Evgenia Radanova, Bulgaria's two times short-track medalist from Salt Lake City, will be awarded by the satellite sports channel Eurosport for her contribution to promoting skating at the Olympic Games. It is a pleasure for us to inform you that at the ceremony Evgenia Radanova will be awarded for the best skating performance at the Olympic Games in Salt Lake City, a fax by Mr Fredi Schmid, General Secretary of the international Skating Union, to the Bulgarian federation reads. The sports stars will be awarded by Eurosport on April 26 in Olympic Museum Lausanne. The ceremony is organized for the second time and will take place under the aegis of the International Olympic Committee, International Olympic Committee President Jacque Rogge and with the cooperation of Juan Antonio Samaranch. Evgenia Radanova and the other members of the Bulgarian short track women's team are in Milwaukee, USA, where they participated in the World short track team championship.
At Salt Lake City Olympic games Evgenia Radanova ended fifth at the women's short track 1000m final at the Olympic Games in the United States. Yang (A) Yang from China was first, followed by Ko Gi-Hyun from Korea and Yang (S) Yang from China. Evgenia Radanova won silver medal at the women's 500m short track final at the Salt Lake 2002 Olympic Winter Games, February 16, 2002. On February 13th, after failing to qualify for the finals at either the 1994 or 1998 Games, she was finally rewarded for her perseverance by taking the bronze ahead of five-time world champion Yang Yang (A) at the Olympic individual short track speed-skating 1,500 meters. Thus she became the first Bulgarian with two medals from Olympic Games.
