ECONOMIC GROWTH COUNCIL WANT PREFERENCES FOR BG COMPANIES

Amendments to the Public Procurement Act and the price of natural gas for consumers are to be discussed at the next meeting of the Council for Economic Growth, Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister Nikolay Vassilev, chairman of the Council, said at the council's first meeting. According to Vuzrazhdane Club chairman Emil Kyulev this has been the first serious and professional dialogue between the executive power and the business. He said that discussions on concrete economic issues should include experts in the respective fields. All members of the Council for Economic Development have been unanimous that preferential treatment of Bulgarian producers is needed. The Council will hold meetings every Wednesday. The establishment of a consultative body with the Cabinet called Council on Economic Growth was approved at the governmental meeting March 14. Vuzrazhdane Club, the Bulgarian Industrial Association, the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Employers Union and the Bulgarian International Business Association have one representative each on the Council. The Cabinet is represented by five ministers.
