GENERAL ELECTIONS TO BE HELD JUNE 17

The general election in Bulgaria will take place June 17, 2001, President P. Stoyanov stated on Thursday. The parties must have at least 4% of the voters to enter the parliament, a bill adopted a week ago said. Ruling rightist Union of democratic forces and leftist socailist opposition are expected to be the main parties in the future parliament, but none of them seems to get simple majority.
