The Government will refer to the Prosecutor's Office the case with the so-called shorthand report from a closed governmental meeting that was disclosed in Bulgaria’s daily “Trud” on March 21. That will take place after an internal check on the issue is conducted, Tsvetelina Uzunova, spokeswoman of the Cabinet said. The law stipulates that disclosure of secret information is to be punished with two years in jail or forced labor. The government has violated the public procurement act when deciding to sign the contract with Crown Agents, the publication in Bulgaria’s Trud daily showed. Huge scandal broke after the publication. Opposition parties declared that may ask the government to resign if the text in the publication was true. The government on Thursday denied it broke the law by favoring a British company in awarding a contract on reforming Bulgaria's customs and announced an investigation into the allegations.
