MS SENIOR VP: ENERGY AND COMMITMENT IN BULGARIA

The intellectual right properties, localization of the software and sofintroduction of Cyrillic alphabet to the Microsoft system was one of the issues discussed at the meeting between President Petar Stoyanov and the Senior Vice President of Microsoft Corporation and President for EMEA reagion Jean-Philippe Courtois, who is on a one-day visit to Bulgaria. This is the first high level business visit of international corporation representative after the general elections in Bulgaria last Sunday. The President acquainted the guest with the program of the Bulgarian government for introducing information technologies in Bulgarian education system. At a briefing after the meeting, Mr. Courtois said that President Petar Stoyanov expressed Bulgaria`s willingness to introduce an IT-oriented economy. The guest pointed out the four main factors for an e-economy success - introduction of IT in the entire educational system, cheap Internet access, adoption of governmental programs and legal frames for intellectual property protection. Jean-Philippe Courtois met also mayor of Sofia Stefan Sofiyanski. `I must say that eastern Europe is now one of the fastest growing regions in this big continent,` Courtois told Reuters in an interview in the Bulgarian capital Sofia. `There is a lot of energy and commitment to the IT sector in this region.`
