BULGARIA PROMOTED AT WORLD'S PREMIERE TOURIST EXHIBITION

Over thirty Bulgarian tourism companies participate in the 2002 edition of ITB-Berlin, the world's premiere tourist exhibition event. Bulgaria has a tradition to participate in the event – this is the 34th year during which Bulgaria is presented. The exhibition opened on March 16. Bulgaria’s corner was among the most visited at the exhibition, the Economy Ministry reported. German media reported that in spite of the global stagnation in the tourism field, Bulgaria remains a country where one can have pleasant and calm holiday. Deputy Economy Minister, responsible for tourism, Dimitur Hadjinikolov leads the Bulgarian delegation. He will meet with the CEOs of the major German tour operators TUI, ITS and Thomas Cook. The three companies are major investors in Bulgaria’s tourism. The three companies have invested over EUR 150 M in Bulgaria’s sea resorts Albena, Zlatni Pyasatsi, St. Konstantin and Sluntchev Bryag during the past four years.
