Parliament ratified the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court March 15. The Ratification of the Rome statute will allow Bulgaria to be among the first sixty countries to take part in the organization of the International Court, which deals with international law issues, such as genocide, crimes against humanity, aggression and military crimes. The International Criminal Court will not substitute but complement national courts. According to the Government, the number of countries that have ratified the Statute is growing quickly. Up till now 139 countries have signed the Rome Statute, 53 of which have ratified it.
