Bulgaria's most famous showman Slavi Trifonov made a stunning announcement that he suffers from severe eyesight impairing disease in an interview on Friday evening.

Trifonov was visited by Rossen Petrov, who currently host she late night show, in the home of Slavi's sister for the interview.

The famous showman said he has been having problems with his sight form several years now and was almost blind with his left eye when suddenly such problems appeared with his other one. The disease, which is actually an inflammation of the eye nerves leading to the brain, may lead to complete blindness. Doctors have made all needed check to exclude any other possibility such as cancer, diabetes, syphilis.

Trifonov now undergoes treatment with cortisone and hopes the inflammation doesn't spread further.

In the dramatic interview he said wanted to finally speak out so that no rumours and speculative articles about his health condition start spreading in the media.

Trifonov said he is determined to keep fighting the disease, hopes he will not lose sight of his right eye and believes he will be able to return to the studio of his late night show.

Slavi started his career some 15 years ago as part of the students' TV show Coo-Coo. The team of the show then started releasing music albums and some years later Slavi Trifonov, who is also a musician left them and started his own career.
