Former Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic has started cross-examining British politician Paddy Ashdown at the war crimes tribunal in The Hague. Mr Milosevic is conducting his own defence in his trial for alleged war crimes in Bosnia, Croatia and Kosovo, and genocide in Bosnia. Lord Ashdown - who gave evidence for the prosecution on Thursday - is the first major European political figure to appear at the trial. On his first appearance, he spoke of his deep shock at what he believed were Serb military operations in Kosovo.
