Study Shows Smoking Raises Chances of Conceiving Girls

A new British study shows that parents who smoke are more likely to conceive a girl, rather than a boy.

The survey included 9,000 women in the Liverpool area between 1998 and 2003, focusing on the effects smoking produces on conception.

The causal link is clear, but its causes are not, the study's authors said.

Even women who are only passive smokers stand a higher chance of conceiving a girl rather than a boy.

The survey's authors plan to conduct further studies, hoping to find the reasons for this phenomenon.
