UK Appoints New Envoy to Bulgaria

Steve Williams has been appointed Her Majesty's Ambassador to the Republic of Bulgaria in succession to Jeremy Hill, the UK Embassy in Sofia announced.

The new envoy will take up his appointment during October 2007.

This will be the second official arrival in Sofia for Steve Williams, who served as Second Secretary at the Embassy in Sofia from 1984 to 1987.

Currently he is Director of Americas Department at Foreign Office.

Steve Williams served as Deputy Head of European Union (Internal) Department in London and Secondment to Barclays Bank. From 1987 to 1990 he served as head of the European Community (External) Department in London.

Married, has one son and two daughters.
