World's Oldest Person Turns 116

Ukrainian Hrihory Nestor, a new challenger to the title of the world's oldest person, turned 116, Darik News reported on Friday.

Ukrainian authorities plan to officially recognize him as the country's oldest resident, based on a birth certificate dated March 15, 1891.

If the certificate's authenticity is verified and accepted by the Guinness Book of Records, he will replace Yone Minagawa from Japan as the world's oldest living person. Minagawa was born on January 4, 1893.

Nestor himself attributes his longevity to the fact that he never married.
