Bulgaria’s President Georgi Parvanov said that preserving political stability is extremely important since 2002 is decisive for Bulgaria. According to him new political tension would lead to dramatic consequences. Parvanov expressed the confidence that the prime minister and the floor leaders of the Simeon II National Movement parliamentary group will find the strength to stabilize the situation within the group.

Five MPs from the Simeon II National Movement filed requests for leaving the Simeon II National Movement parliamentary group on March 8. At an extraordinary meeting of the Simeon II National Movement parliamentary group the five MPs who asked to leave the group were declared "politically immoral" after voting. It was also decided that they will be excluded from all parliamentary committees. Asked to comment on March 9th the decision of five MPs from the Simeon II National Movement to leave the parliamentary group, the prime minister said that for him this issue has already been closed.
