40% OF BULGARIA’S WOMEN SAY THEY SUFFERED HARASSMENT AT WORK

Up to 40% of Bulgarian women have suffered harassment at their workplace, data from a national representative survey conducted by the Agency for Social Research (ASR) show.
2.2% of the female respondents said they have suffered sexual harassment at their workplace in the past 12 months. Sexual harassment is a stigma issue and most victims do not report such incidents. The domestic labour code does not disallow sexual harassment and does not envisage any penalties.
52.06% of the country's unemployed are women; 76% of employers are men.
Women spend 21 hours on average doing household work every week.
