A flurry of new international peace efforts failed to slow Mideast violence Saturday as Palestinian militants unleashed two major attacks — a shooting at a seaside Israeli hotel and a bombing at a crowded Jerusalem cafe. At least five Israelis were killed, while Israeli troops elsewhere shot and killed two people.
