Famous Bulgarian journalist was attacked today late afternoon by United Democratic Forces supporters in front of UDG headquarters at Rakovski street downtown Sofia. Mrs. Valerija Veleva is a top reported in Trud daily, the most influential daily newspaper with more than 500 000 circulation and more than 1 million readers. Veleva was there to cover the Executive committee meeting of UDF and leaving the building was attacked by angry UDF supporters blaming media for heavy loss the party suffered at Sunday`s elections. The crowd started shouting against the media, generally blaming them for the loss of the elections. Veleva was not injured but saved by photo reporters not to be attacked furthermore. UDF, formerly ruling party in Bulgaria last the general elections on Sunday, won by the coalition launched by King Simeon. UDF executive body expressed regrets about the incident. It said it was a `provocation against democracy`. Supporters closed also for more than half an hour Rakovski Street, one of the main streets downtown Sofia and caused total disorder in the transport. It is widely expected media to react angry on that case.
