First Early Stork Spotted in Bulgaria

Society | February 20, 2007, Tuesday // 00:00

The first stork for the year was spotted to hover over the village of Mikrevo, South-western Bulgaria on Monday.

According to ornithologists, the bird came a month earlier than usual because of the unusually warm weather.

The local people call the stork Parvan (in Bulgarian - the first) because every year it flies at least one week before the other birds. Until they come, Parvan is already "reconstructing" its nest.
