Sofia's waltz lovers gathered for a night of glamour in a local rendition of Vienna's Opera ball.
Organized by Austria's ambassador to Bulgaria Karl Diem, and the chairman of Parliament Georgi Pirinski, this year's ball gather 350 of Bulgaria's elite to celebrate in tuxedos and fancy dresses.
All the money from tickets and an auction of art pieces that took place at the ball will be divided between the Pirogov Emergency Institute and five other organizations including the National Theater and Film Arts Academy, the National Arts Academy and the youth national gymnastics team
Several cities hold the traditional Vienna Ball around the time of the original. Apart from Sofia, Austria's high-class event is also recreated in New York, Beijing, Washington, Berlin, Milan, Athens, Moscow and Brussels.
Sofia has hosted the event every year since 1996.
