Most of the tickets for the charity "Vienna Ball" that is to take place in Sofia on February 17 have already been sold, organizers announced.

A total of 320 tickets have already been snatched by Sofia's elite with just 30 more to go. All the money from the tickets will be divided between the Pirogov Emergency Institute and five other organizations including the National Theater and Film Arts Academy, the National Arts Academy and the youth national gymnastics team. Organizers will try to gather more cash for the good cause by auctioning a number of art pieces.

Several cities hold the traditional Vienna Ball around the time of the original. Apart from Sofia, Austria's high-class event is also recreated in New York, Beijing, Washington, Berlin, Milan, Athens, Moscow and Brussels.

Sofia has hosted the event every year since 1996. This year's patrons will be Austria's ambassador to Bulgaria Karl Diem, and the chairman of Parliament Georgi Pirinski.
