U.S.-led forces on Tuesday resumed their ground attack on Taliban-al Qaeda fighters in eastern Afghanistan and were within 330 feet of opposition cave and bunker positions, an Afghan commander with troops at the front said. Commander Abdul Muteen said ferocious U.S. bombing of the rebel's mountain hideouts about 20 miles from Gardez, capital of Paktia Province abruptly stopped, heralding the renewed advance.
