At least 50 people, mostly Muslims, died on Friday in fresh attacks in India's western Gujarat state, racked by three days of Hindu-Muslim bloodshed that has now claimed about 260 lives, officials said. The latest deaths occurred near the Gujarat town of Godhra, where a train carrying Hindu activists was torched by a suspected Muslim mob on Wednesday, killing 58 people. Local official Jayanti Ravi told Reuters at least 50 people died in three separate incidents late on Friday, but gave no further details.
