Teenagers from the US visited Bulgaria's village of Telish for the holidays, where they got a taste of the local Christmas customs.
The fifteen youngsters, all part of the Many Faces, One People multicultural training program, travel to a different country each year to get acquainted with the various ways to celebrate Christmas all over the world.
Despite being well traveled, the teens admitted that they were surprised by the Bulgarian traditions, saying they had seen nothing like them anywhere, state BNT channel reported. They tasted the Lenten dishes prepared by the local women and were treated to a special performance by the Koldari (carolers).
They had chosen the village of Telish, because of its reputation of adhering to age-old traditions and the fact that it houses one of the best preserved Neolithic settlements in the country.
