“Electoral support for rightist parties has decreased by three times,” Miroslava Yanova from the MBMD sociological agency said ate a discussion, organized by Friedrich Naumann foundation and the Institute for Liberal Studies. While n May last year, support for the Union of Democratic Forces (UDF) was 18,8%, now it is 9,3%. The Simeon II National Movement was supported by 41% in May, 2001 while now the movement is supported by 16,3%. Simultaneously, support for leftist Coalition for Bulgaria has increased from 14,6% to 17,7%. Yanova said that there were two reasons for the decreased support of the rightist parties: the fact that the UDF government was involved in numerous corruption scandals and the fact that confidence in Simeon II National Movement has dramatically fallen.
