I am willing to make compromises for improving the financial state of the National Television, BNT anchor Dimitur Tsonev, one of the three candidates for General Director of the Bulgarian National Television said at the presentation of his project for the television development before the Council on Electronic Media. In his opinion the National TV’s public council must consist of 70 members, including politicians, NGOs, MPs. Tsonev suggested holding structure of the television, as well as the introduction of subtitles. Kiril Gotsev, current Current National Television Director, suggested that the internal productions out of the prime time compete with the external productions. In his opinion changes in the television programs and tariffs are essential. Asked how he will cope with the political pressure he said that would be no problem since he has never been involved in political structures. The third candidate Ivan Takev agreed with the other two on the need of mixed funding, digitalisation and efficient use of the TV capacity. The deadline for appointing Director of the National Television is March 4.
