Sofia brightened in a Christmas mood Monday evening when Mayor Boyko Borisov and Coca-Cola HBC head Nigel Davis lit up the capital's biggest Christmas tree.

The biggest live pine tree in the capital is 24 meters tall and is the first naturally growing tree to be chosen as Sofia's Christmas symbol.

A score of elves, led by Santa Claus himself, paraded down Sofia's downtown Tsar Osvoboditel Boulevard from the President's Office to the garden next to the National Assembly building where the Christmas tree proudly rises.
