GERMAN MEDIA: BULGARIA MAY REPEAT ARGENTINA SCENARIO

Will Bulgaria repeat Argentina scenario is the question many German media pose in their analyses of the social protests in the country, BBC reported. The usually calm Bulgaria is not used to such scenes, Bremer Nachrichten writes in its Sunday’s issue, commenting the violent protests of the Roma minority in Plovdiv. Ordinary Bulgarians as well live under the official line of poverty, German Radio Deutschlandfunk reported. It points out the protests coincide with one of the sharpest fall in the popularity of the Prime Minister Simeon Saxe-Coburg. Die Tageszeitung points out that the huge sums the Bulgarian have incurred through non-payment of electricity bills. While Bulgarians wonder which bill to pay first, Bulgaria may repeat the Argentina scenario, TV channel Dreisat predicts. The unrest in Gypsy slums of Plovdiv may prove to be a delay-action bomb, which may explode in the blocks of panel flats in Sofia and other big cities, BBC comments.
