Sofia's second open-air ice-skating rink was officially opened on Saturday.

The rink, named Ice Park Nescafe 3 in 1 is located behind the National Palace of Culture and will work work from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m.

Everyone who owned skates and wanted to do a whirl or two at the new facility had the chance todo so for free on Saturday.

The ice rink will give skates for rent for those who do not have their own in exchange for BGN 3. Personal instructors will also be provided for beginners.

About 200 skaters can use the ice rink simultaneously. Its area is 600 square meters and it has been constructed in accordance with all European standards.

The ice rink was assembled for 6 days and it will be dismantled when the temperatures reach 12 degrees Celsius, which will be no earlier than March.

The winter park will have an open stage, food and beverages pavilion and open-air bars. Parties, concerts and shows will be part of the programme of the facility for the 2006-2007 season.

People can buy tickets for the ice rink from music stores, ticket centres, or book online, said one of the owners, Chaba Pankotay.
