“More and more experts and politicians understand that accepting Bulgaria and Romania to NATO will have strengthening effect on the Balkans, Vladimir Filipov, national coordinator of the Stability Pact said for the Bulgarian National Radio. On one hand, the security of the countries, which will be invited, will be enhanced and on the other hand, this invitation will be a powerful stimulus and positive perspective for the other countries in the region, Filipov said. If Bulgaria and Romania are invited to NATO, the NATO center will be clearly connected with the southern Greece and Turkey, according to Filipov. He added that Bulgaria’s chances to join NATO have increased after the September 11 events.
