Two Palestinians have been shot dead in separate incidents on the West Bank, hours after Israel relaxed its blockade of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat. Tensions on the West Bank rose further earlier when Israeli soldiers fired on a car carrying the speaker of the Palestinian parliament, Ahmed Korei. The Israeli army expressed regret at the incident and Israeli Foreign Minister Shimon Peres telephoned Mr Korei to apologise.
