GEORGE ROBERTSON ARRIVES TO DISCUSS BULGARIA’S READINESS TO JOIN NATO

NATO Secretary-General George Robertson arrives in Bulgaria on February 28, Bulgaria’s Foreign Ministry announced. The visit is part of the tour of Robertson in the Alliance candidate states. The guest will meet with President Parvanov, Prime Minister Saxe-Coburg, Foreign Minister Passy and Defense Minister Svinarov. Bulgaria is not just a NATO aspirant but an important NATO partner," NATO Secretary-General George Robertson said after talks with President Georgi Parvanov during his first visit abroad as Bulgaria’s President in Brussels. Then, Robertson explained that for now, the Treaty had not decided which of the ten countries aspiring for membership will be admitted to NATO at the summit in Prague. Robertson pointed out that all candidate countries had equal chances.
