BULGARIA SECOND IN OLYMPICS-SHORT TRACK B FINAL

The Bulgarian team in the Olympics Women's 3,000m Short Track Speed Skating Relay in B final - Marina Georgieva, Anna Krasteva, Evgenia Radanova, Daniela Vlaeva finished second with 4:20.703, leaving behind United States team -Julie Goskowicz, Caroline Hallisey, Amy Peterson, Erin Porter), 4:20.730. Italy finished first. In Final A South Korea broke the world record to retain their 3,000 metres short track relay title at the Salt Lake City Winter Games. Their new record time of four minutes, 12.793 seconds beat the previous mark of 4:13.541. The other team, Japan, fell off the pace just laps in to the 27-lap race to finish fourth and leave the final placings exactly replicating those of the 1998 final in Nagano.

Bulgaria's Evgenia Radanova, who already has a silver medal in the 500 metres and bronze in the 1,500 metres, breezed through the first round and Canada's Marie-Eve Drolet, a two-time world junior champion, and qualified in the first qualification round in the 1,000 metres short track at the Salt Lake Winter Games. Chinese world and Olympic record holder Yang Yang set up a chance to win China's second gold medal in the category. The final two qualifying rounds and final will be held on February 23.
