Bulgarian director Milena Andonova's debut feature film Monkeys in Winter (Maimuni prez zimata) has already grabbed several local and international movie awards and is now heading off for the Oscars' red carpet.
The reel will go to the first round, where the members of the Academy select the competitors for the 79th Oscar Awards.
Andonova's film tells the separate and tragic stories of three women. It is a compassionate and sensitive account of situations and choices that are, unfortunately, not exceptional.
The 79th Academy Awards this year will enjoy harsh competition. The record 61 countries are in the race for the prestigious statuette.
