GREECE MAY GRANT EUR 550 M FOR THE RECONSTRUCTION OF THE BALKANS

EUR 550 M for the reconstruction of the Balkans after the damages inflicted by the war – that is the essence of the bill presented by the Greek government in Parliament, the Italian news agency ANSA reported.The bill emphasizes on the procedures and criteria applied in the distribution of funds. The investment should be made in 2002-2006 according to the data given by the Greece department of international economic relations. Debates on accepting the bill start next week. Athens promised to work out a support project for the damaged region but there is still nothing ready in terms of the legislation. Greece is an important investor in the Balkans with more than USD 3,4 B invested in different countries of the region, which is actually 57% of the whole sum of Greek investments abroad.
