TOBACCO MONOPOLY PLANS EXPANSION IN RUSSIA, UKRAINE

State tobacco monopoly Bulgartabac Holding plans to double its exports in 2002 compared to 2001 and also to expand its market share in Russia and Ukraine, the Middle East and Africa. Svetoslav Slavov, Head of Sales and Marketing department with the holding said. In order to achieve that the company will offer competitive prices and flexible discounts to distributors. The holding will seek to raise its share in the Russian market to 3% from 0,9% in 2001.Bulgaria will sell up to 80 percent of its tobacco monopoly Bulgartabac Holding by mid-year and will not set a minimum price under a privatisation strategy approved by the government on January 31.
