PRIME MINISTER PLANS NO CONCRETE CHANGES IN CABINET

No concrete changes in the Cabinet are being planned, Prime Minister Simeon Saxe-Coburg said February 19. He attended a meeting of the parliamentary group of the ruling Simeon II National Movement. On February 18 Deputy Economy Minister Lyubka Kachakova, Deputy Finance Minister Atanas Katsarchev and Deputy Culture Minister Gancho Karabadzhakov were dismissed. Prime Minister Simeon Saxe-Coburg confirmed that Stoyan Ganev, former Prime Minister's Chief of Staff, who was dismissed February 14, is returning in Bulgaria February 20. His position is to be discussed afterwards. In a separate development the office of the National Customs Agency announced Director Emil Dimitrov will tender his resignation February 20. The Prime Minister described the customs chief as a "very well qualified person" who can "perform some other functions." Commenting the reports that political pressure has been exerted on the three deputy ministers before they were dismissed, he said that the situation must be judged more calmly.
