Ana Hadzhieva, a journalist from Radio Plovdiv, has been nominated member of the Council on Electronic Media (CEM) by Simeon II National Movement and the Movement for Rights and Freedoms. The decision was taken at the joint discussion of the leaderships of the two Parliamentary Groups February 19. Out of the 17 candidatures submitted in the Parliamentary Media committee two were discussed by the MPs – Ana Hadzhieva and Ivaylo Malinov. Eight MPs voted against Hadzieva’s candidature, 16 abstained. Milena Milotinova, chairman of the Parliamentary Media Committee, pointed CEM’s regional principle as the main reason for selecting this nomination. The vacancy on the Council followed the dismissal of Vesselin Stoykov, who was charged with collaborating with the former State Security. Milotinova said that Hadzieva's candidature is currently being discussed by the Media Committee. The Records Disclosure Commission reported on some of the seventeen candidatures for CEM members. So far no data for former State Security collaborators have been found.
