LIBYAN CASE: DEATH SENTENCES DEMANDED

Libyan Court asked for death penalties for the six Bulgarian medical workers alleged in deliberately infecting 393 children with HIV-virus on the court sitting on Saturday. Vladimir Scheytanov, attorney of Bulgarian defendants pleaded not guilty on the lack of evidences opposing the prosecutor`s accusations. Today at the next court sitting Osman Bizanti, the other attorney will deliver his speech on the AIDS trial. The sentences will be passed in 2-3 weeks` period Bulgarian attorneys expected. This time the court did not allow the defendants to meet with their relatives who had arrived from Sofia for the hearing. Bulgaria took a flurry of political and diplomatic actions in relation to the Libyan case against Bulgarian medics. All parties and officials expressed their concern for the development of the case.
