Prime Minister Saxe-Coburg will visit Washington in the first half of the year, Richard Miles, outgoing US ambassador to Bulgaria annouced. To a question whether the Bulgarian president will visit soon Washington, the diplomat answered: I am sure that the visit of Mr. Parvanov in USA would be beneficial. Miles qualified as “difficult” the question whether Washington will support Bulgaria’s candidature for NATO membership. He pointed out that the United States have always supported Bulgaria’s efforts and have cooperated in technical and financial terms. In spite of that, according to Miles, the decision on Bulgaria’s NATO membership will be announced only before the NATO summit in November.
