BULGARIA’S CONTINGENT TO AFGHANISTAN LEAVES FEBRUARY 18

Bulgaria’s contingent leaves on February 18, Defense Minister Nikolay Svinarov announced. Bulgaria’s military contingent is ready to leave for Afghanistan Major General Orlin Marinchev said earlier during the week. He explained that a final inspection has been made on February 13 and the conclusion was that the mission is prepared to leave. Nine officers, ten sergeants, eleven soldiers and one civil person will take part in the mission. The preparation of the participants takes place in the base Musachevo and lasts 10 hours per day, six days per week. The participants in the mission will receive USD 60 per day for their work in Afghanistan and will have the possibility to talk for 20 minutes over a satellite phone with their Bulgarian relatives. They will receive letters and newspapers once per week.
