BAVARIA’S JUSTICE MINISTER: BULGARIA WORKS HARD TO JOIN EU
Politics | February 15, 2002, Friday // 00:00
Judging by my impressions Bulagrians work hard to join the EU. Bulgaria however not only has to align its legislation with the European law but also to change the way it works, Dr Manfred Weiss, State Minister of Justice of the German Free State of Bavaria, said after his meeting with Prime Minister Simeon Saxe-Coburg. Dr Manfred Weiss confirmed his country’s support for Bulgaria in its EU entry. Bavarian experts have worked for more than six months on a project of the PHARE Programme on improving the Bulgarian justice and judiciary, it transpired after his meeting with the President’s Legal Secretary Plamen Kirov. The proposals worked out by the team will probably be used in amending the Judiciary Act prepared by the Bulgarian Justice Ministry. The aim of the document is to improve the fight against crime.
