Bulgarian Policemen Sued for Accidental Murder

Crime | August 2, 2006, Wednesday // 00:00

The family of a man killed Tuesday will put on trial the two murderers, local policemen.

Georgi Bozhanov, 58, a father of three children, was killed in an apparent random shooting in what the sergeants believed was a deserted area near Velingrad, south Bulgaria.

His son, Vasil Bozhanov, will lodge the complaint after he meets Interior Minister Rumen Petkov on Friday.

"I will insist that Stoyan Patsalov and Rossen Ovcharov face the heaviest punishment, including verdicts," Minister Petkov said Tuesday.

The victim's son was disappointed by his meeting with the head of Velingrad's police Wednesday. He had expected explanation why the accident was reported to the family eight hours later, but said he received none.
