A major clean-up operation is under way after a cargo ship carrying more than 700 tonnes of fuel ran aground off the coast of New Zealand. Environmental teams have begun rescuing wildlife affected by oil leaking from the ship, a few hundred metres from the north island port of Gisborne. The stranded log carrier, Jody F Millennium, got into trouble in heavy seas soon after leaving Gisborne four days ago.
