E-GOVERNMENT TO BE BUILT TILL 2004

Bulgaria is to build an e-government, that is a nationally integrated information system, no later than 2004, State Administration Minister Dimitur Kalchev, announced at the opening of the forum “Electronic government”. All EU aspirants has been required to build such an info system, he added. A fiber optic cable link is to connect the capital with all district centres in the country. According to the Brussels definition the electronic government is the delivering of e-services to citizens and companies. “The reform in the state administration is one of the priorities of the Cabinet,“ Prime Minister Simeon Saxe-Coburg's address to the forum reads. A total of 150 representatives of the state and local administration attended the forum, which took place in Boyana residence. The integration and coordination of info systems in the structure of state administration were among the topics on the agenda of the forum. Training of officials from the state administration was also discussed.
