Bulgaria Extradites 12 Child-Trafficking Roma to Italy

Bulgaria will extradite to Italy 12 Roma, arrested in May for child trafficking, the district court in the northern city of Pleven has decided.

A total of 28 people have been arrested and have to appear before Italy's authorities, and the court will decide the fate of 11 more of them the following week.

The Roma are all aged between 29 and 45 and come from Pleven and nearby villages Levski and Cherven Briag. They have been charged with child trafficking, prostitution, perjury, fake currency distribution and pick-pocketing. Eight of the members of the criminal gang are female.

The gang was busted during a raid on May 28.
