FERTILIZER PRICE RISE PROMPTED BY MONOPOLY BULGARGAS

Agropolychim, chemical fertilizer producer, raised the price of ammonium nitrate, by around 3% as of February 1, due to higher prices of state distribution monopoly Bulgargas. The price was set at BGN 266 per ton, VAT excluded. Still the rise will not cover the increase in the production costs. The price rise is against the interest of producers, representatives of state fund Agriculture warned. Debt-ridden fertilizer maker Chimco restarted production, after it was suspended at the end of last year. Vratsa-based plant sells ammonium nitrate at BGN 399 per ton, VAT included.
