Bulgarian Prisoner Escapes "because of World Cup"

A Bulgarian prisoner who managed to escape and was later seized said he ran away because of the World Cup, media report.

Alexander Shankov, 43, explained he wanted to get a TV set and take it back to jail, so he could watch the championship.

Shankov managed to escape from a construction site near a village in the north of the country, media reported. He was serving a sentence at the Vratsa prison.
