COSTS FOR BURGAS PORT MODERNIZATION GO UP BY USD 27 M

Business | February 3, 2002, Sunday // 00:00

Nearly USD 27 M more will be needed for the development and the modernization of the Burgas port because of change of the place where the waste from the port will be thrown. At the beginning, it was planned the bay “Vromos” to be that place. However, after ecologists organized protests, that option was overthrown. The motives of the ecologists were that the throwing out of the waste in the bay would pollute the bay and thus will threaten the means of living of the people in the seaside resorts Sozopol and Chrnomorets. Now, the modernization of the port will cost more than USD 161 M. It is expected that terminal 2A that is currently being construction will start work in 2005.
