Pakistani and U.S. police were searching on Saturday for kidnapped U.S. journalist Daniel Pearl, after one message said he had been killed but another demanded the release of a top Taliban prisoner and $2 million. "We are checking up on both these conflicting reports and so far we have nothing to confirm he is dead," Tariq Jamil, police chief in the southern city of Karachi told CNN television.
