EC RECOMMENDATIONS HIGHLIGHTED IN SPEED-UP EU ENTRY STRATEGY

Implementation of the recommendations of the European Commission report, approximation of Bulgarian legislation with European law, administrative capacity building and monitoring by the European structures, are among the goals included in the strategy for accelerated Bulgaria’s accession, approved by the European Integration Council January 31.The strategy will be submitted for approval by the cabinet at its next meeting, Meglena Kuneva, Deputy Foreign Minister and Chief Negotiator with the EU, announced. Kuneva pointed out the importance of foreign support. She also recommended that a campaign for informing Bulgarians on the advantages of EU entry be launched. The document will be updated twice a year in accordance with the specific priorities of each EU presidency. During the Spanish presidency these are regional policy, farming, and budgetary and financial issues.
