MONBAT BATTERY PRODUCER AWARDED NATO QUALITY CONTROL CERTIFICATE

Electric battery producer Monbat was awarded AQAP-110 NATO certificate, which guarantees the compatibility of its quality management control system with NATO standards. Under the certificate Monbat is to design, produce, sell and recycle starter and stationary electric batteries for the armed forces over two years. Montana-based plant Monbat is owned by local lubricants producer Prista oil, in which US Texaco oil major holds a 25% equity, acquired in 2000. The company holds a 55% -share on the Bulgarian market of cars, trucks and bus batteries. About 60% of its produce is exported to over 30 countries. Two years ago Monbat launched production of electric batteries for tanks and armored vehicles compatible with NATO standards. Prista oil plans to add USD 1M of investments to the USD 2 M it has invested so far.
